Well - today is the last day of my 20s. When I look back over the last 10 years, I realise that it’s a heck of a long time. Here’s a few of the things that have happened in the last decade of my life:
- Just over 10 years ago a join a small church plant in Whiteinch, to spend a year working full time. I was the 9th member of the church. (IIRC)
- Said church has now met in a home, a shop front, a nightclub, a community centre, 2 schools, and now a new community centre
- I applied, studied for, and completed my degree (1997-2000)
- I met Heather, fell in love, and got married (met in 1997, married in 1999)
- I got interested in Linux (initially in 1998, scrapping Windows totally 2003)
- I got my first car (and 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th)
- I flew for the first time (2001, I think)
- I travelled out of Europe for the first time (Tunisia, 2002)
- I travelled to the southern hemisphere for the first time (Mozambique, 2007)
- Bought my first and second flats (2002 and 2005)
- Got a cat (2005)
- Got my first full time job (2000)
- Broken my first bone (nose, 2007)
- Watched Liverpool win the Carling Cup, FA Cup, UEFA Cup, Champions League and European Super Cup (but sadly not the Premiership
)
I’ve probably messed up a couple of dates, and missed a whole load of stuff out. But there’s a lot to remember, and I am getting old now….
Of course, there are a whole load of things to look forward to, not least the birth of my first child. But first I want to drink a toast to everyone who reads this, almost all of whom I have met in the last 10 years. Here’s to you all, and the difference you have made in my life.
