PlusNet are due to upgrade all 2MB customers to 8MB during April, on the day of their payments. I pay on the 15th, so by this time next week, I should have quadrupled my download speed. Shame the upload speed isn’t any good. But there you go - bask in the reflected glory

Isn’t 8mbit a theoretical limit - hence all adverts say ‘up to 8mbit’ ?

A friend was recently upgraded to 8MB (he’s in South Queensferry). So good, he’s had to resort to dialup due to a connectivity problems. I think he was quoted a week before the system will settle down to a more acceptable error rate.

Yes, the 8mbit is a theoretical limit. Currently I’m on 2mbit, and that’s pretty much what I get. Given that I live in the middle of city, I am expecting my exchange to be pretty up-to-date. I also pay a little extra for a lower contention ratio (and static IP) so hopefully it all bodes well.
