Well - the game was a real disappointment last night. Not because we played particularly badly, but because we just couldn’t put the ball in the net. Again.
I think Rafael Benitez has done wonders for the club, I really do, and this season has seen some really great consistency for the first time in years (in the league). And, of course, the CL victory last season, which nobody even hoped for. But there are times when I question his choices, particularly when it comes to attacking. We have got by this season on midfielders who score a lot, rather than strikers. Hopefully Fowler will return to form - I believe he will make a great strike partner for Crouch, better than Morientes (too slow) or Cisse (bad touch, doesn’t read the game as well), assuming that he can get fit, and start scoring. But having 4 inconsistent strikers (at best) is crippling our chances of, well, winning stuff. Hopefully there will be enough cash in the pot at the end of the season to buy somebody world class to add to the strength we now have in defense and midfield.
Oh well - roll on the FA Cup………
PS - it is nice to see Arsenal progress, and I wish them all the best, and hopefully the trophy. It’s been good to see English (and Scottish) clubs progressing further each year in the CL.
