It seems that not only is the film similar in part to Michael Marshall Smith’s novel Spares, it is almost a direct copy of Clonus, an old low budget sci-fi classic.

Perhaps I should watch the trailer for The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe again to calm down. Never having read the books (yet) it fills me with nothing but anticipation.
