We move tomorrow! I’m a weird mixture of excited, nervous and just plain tired. I also hit upon the realisation the other day that, while moving to a new place is exciting, I will actually be quite sad to leave the old place - we have many happy memories there.

Storage is going to be an issue in the new flat - I’ve chucked a tonne of stuff out, but there is more chucking to be done. I will no longer have my ’study’ in quite the same way. While not having to sit in the tight, hot confines of the 18″ x 3″ cupboard that was my space in the old flat will be nice, I may end up having to share the room with visitors and the like.

Technologically the flat will present a challenge - where’s the best place for the wireless router? Where are the sockets (phone and power)? Do I do any hardwiring, or do I rely on wireless connections for the majority instead? Plus there is the potential to move to having a seperate desktop and server config…. all the things a geek thinks of, but noone else does ;)

The ADSL will be ordered on Monday, once we’ve confirmed that the phone line is all working properly. Hopefully I won’t be off line all that long…..

Onwards and upwards.

I saw this on PerfDaves blog and thought it sounded like fun:

I’m amazed that only 3 letters are missing :)

As with the Musical Baton, this was passed to me by Aq, but will probably be a lot easier for me to complete ;)

Books Owned
Hundreds - today they’re all in boxes or on their way to a charity shop, in preparation for the move.

Last Book Purchased
Linux Desktop Hacks, by Jono Bacon, along with a load of free O’Reilly books that I won at LUGRadio Live.

Books reading just now
The Testament, by John Grisham. One of my favourite Grisham books. Tim O’Reilly in a Nutshell and Linux Desktop Hacks also take up some reading space at the moment.

Books that mean a lot to me
Microserfs, by Douglas Coupland. A classic book from DC, who is almost always readable - one of those books that makes you feel sad when it finishes, as if you’re saying goodbye to the characters.
The Prometheus Deception, by Robert Ludlum. I’m a huge Ludlum fan, and this is one of my favourites.
There’s probably more, but my mind is elsewhere…..

And the baton passes to…..
All the ‘Moose family, of course, and davee too.
