Twice nightly no longer

It was with great sadness that I learned this morning of the death of Richard Whiteley. Countdown has always been a favourite show of mine – I watched it for a number of years with my parents when I came home from school. Being a typical geek I always did better at the numbers than the letters, but generally was bested by my Father. I did get the occasional conundrum before him, though. :)

His dress sense was awful, his sense of pun abysmal. But he was a great man, and I will miss him.

He will be sorely missed, a great presenter of a wonderful show.

And yes, numbers are so much easier, I really struggle with the words, though I have got the extremely occassional conumdrum.

I heard the end of this story on the radio, something about Richard Whiteley, but missed the details. I thought scandal or something — when I got off the train and saw the newspaper headlines I was quite upset. I’d been thinking that it was something nice and fun or somesuch…. Caught doing naughtness with Carol Vorderman or whatever. Was a deep letdown for the day.

Rest In Peace Richard, Weekday afternoons will NEVER be the same without you.
