It’s nice to see that the current status of my desktop box is thus:
mrben@hobbes:~$ uptime
12:55:48 up 80 days, 56 min, 24 users, load average: 0.00, 0.01, 0.00
mrben@hobbes:~$
It’s basically been up since I last updated my kernel. I was looking forward to celebrating my 100 days uptime on the 28th October, but unfortunately I will be going down to see my parents on the 20th October, and I suspect that I may be persuaded to turn the box off before we go
At least by then I will be looking at just over a quarter of a year (91.25 days).
Oh, and just in case you were wondering, the box is patched fully up-to-date. I’m running an almost brand new kernel (I’m avoiding 2.6.8 until the k3b issue is resolved). I’ve also installed a load of new software in the past ~3 months with no real perceivable issues.
Yay stability
mrBen
leave the box on, then it has its 100 days uptime on my birthday
if its been on that long, you must have one big electric bill
that kebab sounds nice.
do you know where the ruby chip shop is then?
Hm. I never check my uptime, but that’s because I turn mine off fairly often. I’m only running a 2.4.26 kernel, because it’s so stable, and because I had trouble getting nvidia drivers to work with the 2.6.x kernel — though I think I heard that this is fixed, now…
Which distro?
Phil – am happily using the nVidia drivers under 2.6.7; am using a stock kernel.
Oh, and Debian
